Employment Law Changes

Various employment law changes took effect on 1 October.
Certain employees now have the right to take time off work to accompany a pregnant woman to ante-natal appointments. This right applies to employees in certain defined relationships with the pregnant woman or expected child including the husband, civil partner, partner or father and applies from the first day of employment with no qualification period
Other changes are:-
- Increases to the national minimum wage rates
- The introduction of ET ordered equal pay audits
- Changes to the list of prescribed persons in public interest disclosures
- Amendments to the corporate governance code relating to directors’ remuneration
